UPCOMING SPECIAL EVENTS 2008
Buffalo Bill Birthday Celebration
Noon - 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 24, 2008.

Celebrate the birthday of one of America’s greatest legends, William “Buffalo Bill” Cody. In the grand tradition of parties, the Buffalo Bill Museum and Grave will host the annual Buffalo Bill Birthday Celebration on Sunday, February 24 from noon to 3 p.m. Sing Happy Birthday, eat cake, play games and maybe even learn a thing or two on this very festive FREE day.

Join the Museum staff at Noon for a ceremonial cutting of the cake by a photogenic collection of Buffalo Bill look-a-likes. Then wander through the Museum exhibits, visiting with costumed volunteers as they discuss the Native Americans, buffalo and cowboys that were such a vital part of Buffalo Bill’s life. At 1:30 p.m. the action moves back outside for the annual Buffalo-Chip Tossing Contest. Prizes will be awarded in both an adult and child’s category.

Mountain Melodies Music Festival
Noon to 5 pm on Sunday, August 10, 2008.

What’s better than a cool picnic in the mountains on a hot summer day? How about surrounding that same picnic with the lofting sounds of guitars, fiddles and mandolins at the Buffalo Bill Museum’s fourth annual Mountain Melodies Music Festival. Enjoy mountain breezes, mountain scenery and mountain music on Lookout Mountain. And it’s FREE! Mountain Melodies Music Festival will feature five hours of bluegrass music by local artists. Historic craft demonstrations will be scattered throughout the Museum and grounds, and costumed reenactors will add a touch of the old west. Turn the event into a picnic with genuine buffalo burgers and other foods from the Pahaska Tepee Gift Shop and Snack Bar.

This picnic environment will offer some seating, however visitors are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs to insure your space in the shade. The concert and parking are free. Admission to the Museum is $3 for adults; $2 for seniors; and $1 for children ages 6 - 15. Ages five and under are always free.
